A chief product officer (CPO) is a C-level executive that oversees the strategy and execution of all product-related operations inside a company. The duties of a CPO begin with product invention and vision and continue through the marketing campaign and beyond the product’s release. Typically, the chief product officer reports to the CEO of the firm (CEO). The position is also known as vice president (VP) of product or head of product. The main purpose of a CPO is to lead and enable product management teams in order to guarantee that products give value to both users and the company.
